Description

Music blasts from the speakers of the colorful van full of fun games as it pulls into the city parks for the beginning of the annual summer mobile recreation program.  Kids of all ages start warming up with a round or two of foosball or ping pong until the day’s planned activities begin.  This is The City of Newberry’s Mobile Recreation Program!

Beginning June 14th and running through July 23rd, don’t miss this free program from 10 until 12 on weekdays.  FREE lunch is even provided.  Kids ages 6 and up are welcome to attend once or every day!

Marion Davis park at 2905 Fair Ave on Mondays;
Mollohon at 211 Player Street on Tuesdays;
Gallman at 668 McSwain Street on Wednesdays;
Newberry Recreation Complex at 1786 Glenn Street Ext. on Thursdays

Art in the Parks 2021

Fridays, June 18-July 23 – 10 am-12 pm

Week 1: June 18th

Mollohon Park

Activity:  Diann Price Williams will talk with the children about her book “Gran Ma on Freedom is Not Free.  Each child will receive a copy of the book (and autographed if wanted) and a journal

 

Week 2: June 25th

Gallman Park

Activity:  Recycle Project Boards and watercolor bookmarks

 

Week 3: July 2nd

Marion Davis Park

Activity:  Cool cat newspaper/magazine art

 

Week 4: July 9th

Wise Street Park

Activity:  Tiffany Gary will present a program on “Painting through Emotions.”  This will be a fun paint and pour activity.

 

Week 5: July 16th

Mollohon Park

Activity:  Painting with Christy Buchanan

 

Week 6: July 23rd

Gallman Park

Activity:  God’s eye craft (ojo de Dios) – weaving
