The PRT department maintains the City's 100 acres of parks, implements youth and adult sports activities, manages the Oakland Tennis Center, has a Senior Adult program, plans the City's special events, promotes the City's tourism, manages the Newberry Firehouse Conference Center, and the Newberry Arts Center.

- Free Family Movie Nights- Seasonal- Visit our web calendar for dates.
- Healthy Chili Cook-Off- Held annually the Saturday before the Super Bowl, 11am-1:30pm in Memorial Park in Downtown Newberry
- Spring Fling Weekend Kickoff: Irish Fling- Held annually the Friday before Saint Patrick's Day in Downtown Newberry
- The SummerFun/Horseshoe Pitchers Pro Tour Tournament- Held annually in April in Marion Davis Park
- Pork in the Park- Held annually the 3rd weekend in April from 11am-3:30pm in Memorial Park in Downtown Newberry
- Taste of Newberry- Held annual the 3rd Friday in May from 5pm to 9pm at the Friend Building in Downtown Newberry
- Open Streets Newberry- a healthy lifestyle and community fair the first Saturday in June in Downtown Newberry
- National Night Out- First Tuesday in August from 6-8pm
- Newberry Oktoberfest- Held annually on the first Saturday in October, 10am-6pm in Downtown Newberry
- Main Street Lights- Official Community Christmas Tree Lighting Held annually the Friday before Thanksgiving, from 6pm- 8pm at Community Hall in Downtown Newberry
- Other Newberry Christmas Events include North Pole Nights, Gingerbread House Competition, and Santa's Neighborhood Tour.
