Newberry Arts Center

The Newberry Arts Center was established in 2014 and is operated by the City’s Parks, Recreation and Tourism Department. In less than a year a solid arts program was established that includes programs for all ages. The mission of the Newberry Arts Center (NAC) and Newberry Arts Program is to provide quality arts experiences to all interested citizens and increase support for working artists while creating appreciative current and future art patrons by involving the diverse population and fostering local economic growth while enhancing the quality of life for all residents. The NAC also established and hosted the first ever South Carolina Clay Conference, an annual conference for clay enthusiasts held in Newberry each year.

We offer Fun Art Parties for All Skills!
These one night parties are a fun way to experience art for a few hours with friends over drinks or with your family or children. We offer parties for canvas paintings, pottery/sculpting parties, and door decoration painting parties. All materials are provided, but please bring a drink or snack of your choosing. Parties open to the public are listed below. Interested in throwing your own party? Call us at 803-597-1125!


Winter Art Camps for Kids and Teens!

December 26, 27, 28 & January 2, 3, 4

Kids Winter Art Camps will have a different group of activities each day. Students may attend one day or all the days. Class size is limited so please register early! A snack and water will also be provided. Please bring a lunch to eat during camp. Cost:  $20 per day. All materials for all projects included. Snacks and bottled water provided by NAC.

Teen Winter Art Camps are a great way for ages 13 to 18 to study an art form in depth. Each class is taught by professional artists who will teach solid technique and provide basis for individual creativity. Students will not only learn a great deal about the art forms and techniques, they will also take home several finished pieces of which they will be proud. Cost: $25.00 per day. All materials for all projects included.  Students may attend one day or all the days. Class size is limited so please register early! Snacks and bottled water provided by NAC.

Pottery Parties- Nativity, Birdhouse, or Angel Parties

January 30, February 6, and February 13 from 6pm-8:30pm
 
The 3 sessions totaling 7.5 hours start with how to make the most of your iPhone camera by covering features, tips, and tricks. This session also covers tips to make creative videos by incorporating music and photos into your video. The focus will then be on creating photos with different lighting, principles of composition, and creative techniques in a variety of different settings. The workshop will conclude with editing techniques using your iPhone as well as available iPhone editing apps to make your photos stand out. Practical in class exercises along with out of class exercises with be given to enhance learning.
 
Taught by photographer Erdal Caba whose photographs are on display at the Village Artists Art Gallery at Sandhills. This workshop is for those with any model iphone.

Students ages 16 and 17 may take adult level classes with parental permission.  Use of studios solely for commercial production work is not permitted.
