Newberry Arts Center

The Newberry Arts Center was established in 2014 and is operated by the City’s Parks, Recreation and Tourism Department. In less than a year a solid arts program was established that includes programs for all ages. The mission of the Newberry Arts Center (NAC) and Newberry Arts Program is to provide quality arts experiences to all interested citizens and increase support for working artists while creating appreciative current and future art patrons by involving the diverse population and fostering local economic growth while enhancing the quality of life for all residents. The NAC also established and hosted the first ever South Carolina Clay Conference, an annual conference for clay enthusiasts held in Newberry each year.

We offer Fun Art Parties for All Skills!
These one night parties are a fun way to experience art for a few hours with friends over drinks or with your family or children. We offer parties for canvas paintings, pottery/sculpting parties, and door decoration painting parties. All materials are provided, but please bring a drink or snack of your choosing. Interested in throwing your own party? Call us at 803-597-1125!

Upcoming Events!! Adult Summer Fun !!!

Pick from any 16 images in the classroom to paint. Open to the public, $25 per person. If you bring a friend, it becomes 2 for $40. If you bring back a past NAC painting for recycling you can receive $5 off toward a painting party.

Pouring Class with Nancy Burkhart of Earth Safe Finishes:

One Day Workshops!
NAC wants to welcome Nancy, artist and creator of Earth Safe Finishes (paint), to Newberry. She has moved her company from California to Newberry and we are having her do a pouring class with us at the arts center. The cost is $25 per person, and it is on July 2nd at 6:00pm. 15 spots are available, first come first served. Call 803-597-1125.

ZERO to Sweing: Beginner Sewing Classes- 4 weeks $160
October 16, 23, 30, November 6
Meet once a week for 3 hours/6-9PM
Minimum 6 participants
13 years of age and older
Bring your own sewing machine. Class One Project (Wednesday, October 16th): Pillow Cover, Class Two Project (Wednesday, October 23rd): Apron, Class Three Project (Wednesday, October 30th):  Zipper Pouch, Class Four Project (Wednesday, November 6th): Holiday Stocking

Photography Classes

Create photos like a pro with your Iphone
The 3 sessions on how to make the most of your iPhone camera by covering features, tips, and tricks. Practical in class exercises along with out of class exercises with be given to enhance learning. Taught by photographer Erdal Caba whose photographs are on display at the Village Artists Art Gallery at Sandhills. This workshop is for those with any model iphone.

Registration forms can be picked up at our location at 1200 Main Street in Downtown Newberry. Completed forms with your payment are to be taken to our downtown location or mailed the City of Newberry attn: Newberry Arts Center, PO BOX 538 (check only by mail, cash, check, or card may be accepted in person at our 1200 Main Street location). All classes and workshops must meet a requirement for a minimum number of participants. Be sure to register early to ensure that the class of your choice will run as scheduled. Refunds and make up classes will not be provided due to student illness, unexpected travel, or reasons not the responsibility of the faculty or NAC. Students ages 16 and 17 may take adult level classes with parental permission.  Use of studios solely for commercial production work is not permitted. NAC reserves the right to refuse enrollment to individuals with a history of unacceptable behavior.
