The area's primary health care center is Newberry County Memorial Hospital. Newberry County Memorial Hospital (NCMH) provides general medical and surgical care for inpatient, outpatient, and emergency room patients. Recently Newberry County Memorial Hospital was ranked in the top 10% of hospitals in the nation for quality by the National Hospital Quality Initiative and was ranked in the top 10% of hospitals in the nation for joint replacement. In addition to great overall care at Newberry Hospital, Newberry Hospital doctor, Oscar Lovelace, won the 2015 title of National Family Physician of the Year.

Within the past 15 years NCMH completed a $13.4 million renovation and expansion project creating a customer-friendly outpatient medical mall on the first floor, opened a satellite office in Little Mountain of Newberry County, expanded and renovated the birthing unit, New Beginnings, which includes a new and much larger laboratory area, surgical dressing rooms, pediatric rooms, obstetrical OR, opened a new medical office building, the Atrium Center, which also includes a new and expanded Wellness Center for health and fitness, opened a hyperbaric medicine center, and has added advanced digital mammography.
