Public Works also provides Rear Yard Service setup for disabled residence for short-term or long-term service. Gives information to the media (Newberry Observer, WKDK, etc.) on holiday schedules pertaining to sanitation pickups. This service also provides monthly/yearly reports to the Finance Deptartment, as well as other Departments, on fuel usage and vehicle maintenance, and overages on commercial businesses’ cubic yard usage. We work with the SC Department of Probation by keeping timesheet hours on individuals working off Public Service hours. We also works with the Transition Departments of Newberry High and Mid-Carolina High Schools, keeping payroll hours on 2 students in On-the-job training, per school term. |

Our goal is to create a clean environment for Newberry residents, businesses and our visitors by removing all garbage and other refuse in the city.
We provide services such as emptying all roll carts and commercial containers throughout the city. We also clean, repair and/or replace damaged carts and/or containers.
In addition, we handle removal of limbs/debris, appliances, paper products, furniture, and metal objects on a weekly basis. We can provide trailers to city residents for cleaning out houses and garages. For our elderly and disabled residents, we are happy to provide rear yard pickup, when requested.

Our goal is to keep the City of Newberry's streets
clean and safe for all of its residents, businesses and the visitors. We maintain the streets throughout the city, including cutting grass, picking up litter, repairing storm drains, patching pot holes, and edging sidewalks and curbing. We also fill in dugouts, repair creekbeds and ditches due to storm damage, trim brush on right-of-ways, clean city parking lots, repair sidewalks, sweep streets, and install and repair driveways.
