Newberry Arts Center

The Newberry Arts Center was established in 2014 and is operated by the City’s Parks, Recreation and Tourism Department. In less than a year a solid arts program was established that includes programs for all ages. The mission of the Newberry Arts Center (NAC) and Newberry Arts Program is to provide quality arts experiences to all interested citizens and increase support for working artists while creating appreciative current and future art patrons by involving the diverse population and fostering local economic growth while enhancing the quality of life for all residents. The NAC also established and hosted the first ever South Carolina Clay Conference, an annual conference for clay enthusiasts held in Newberry each year.

Announcing Summer Art Camps for Kids and Teens!

Children & Youth Summer Art Camps

For Ages 5-12 (children will be separated by age group during projects)
Projects will change week to week so campers can attend multiple weeks and not repeat the same projects.
All camps will focus on the Total Solar Eclipse coming to Newberry on August 21st (www.newberryeclipse.com), math, science, and how the arts are integrated with those topics.
$110* per camp- Includes all materials, snack, bottled water

Teen Summer Art Camps

For Ages 13-16
Teen Summer Art Camps are a great way for ages 13 to 16 to study an art form in depth. Each class is taught by professional artists who will teach solid technique and provide the basis for individual creativity. Campers will not only learn a great deal about the art forms and techniques, they will also take home several finished pieces of which they will be proud. 
Campers attending Teen Summer Art Camps will need to bring lunch each day. Bottled water and a snack will be provided.
Oil Painting Camp- June 5-9 from 10 am to 2 pm Monday-Friday
Pottery Camp- July 17-21 
 from 10 am to 2 pm Monday-Friday
Drawing Camp- July 24-28 
 from 10 am to 2 pm Monday-Friday
$125* per camp- Includes all materials, snack, bottled water

FINAL SPRING SESSION ART FOR ADULTS:

WATERCOLOR FOR ALL LEVELS

Spring Session II-10am-1pm Tuesdays, 5/2/17-6/6/17
This class on painting in watercolors is for anyone wanting to expand their knowledge of watercolor painting, color mixing, composition and more.  This six-week class will lead students of any skill level to a greater ability and understanding of this wonderful medium. This class is suitable for novices as well as more advanced students. For adults ages 16 and up.
$180 for each 6-week session*

All of our classes for adults, teens, and children are given by professional instructors. After School Art programs are offered for the Fall & Spring semesters. We also host 6-week courses for adults in oil painting, watercolor, and pottery in Spring & Fall. Meet our instructors below:

All classes and workshops must meet a requirement for a minimum number of participants. Be sure to register early to ensure that the class of your choice will run as scheduled. Refunds and make up classes will not be provided due to student illness, unexpected travel, or reasons not the responsibility of the faculty or NAC. Students ages 16 and 17 may take adult level classes with parental permission.  Use of studios solely for commercial production work is not permitted. NAC reserves the right to refuse enrollment to individuals with a history of unacceptable behavior.
